Public consultation
As you may already be aware, the government is rolling out changes to nursery and preschool funding. Part of this change is the allocation of capital funding, to convert empty space in primary schools into new provision.
Futura Learning Partnership and St John's CofE are considering applying for funds to open provision on-site. At this stage we are looking at feasibility and demand within the area, so would be grateful if you could complete the online survey.
The process for opening a nursery and/or pre-school requires approval from the Department for Education, so we will use your responses to support our application. This consultation will close at 12am on Monday 9th December 2024.
Please be assured that names and postcodes will be removed before submission to the Department for Education.
For more information about this funding see school-based nursery capital grant.

Values and ethos
The school's values are integral to life at St John's and underpin the ethos and culture of the school community. Values are referred to durring collective worship, within lessons and lived out amongst pupils and staff.
RESPECT: Behaving with integrity and being worthy of trust; respecting self, others and the environment.
OPPORTUNITY: Providing experiences for growth and development; opening doors to future success.
COLLABORATION: Working together towards shared goals and shared success; being ‘stronger together’.
ASPIRATION: Encouraging ambition; providing the inspiration, challenge and support to achieve success in all its forms.
The story of our logo
St John’s school has as its logo the centuries old image of Jesus as the ‘Lamb of God.’ This title for Jesus comes from John the Baptist pointing to him in the Gospel of St John in chapter 1, verse 29, and saying, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” Since the school is named after John the Baptist (following the dedication of St John’s Church in the town), the image reflects John’s chief purpose of pointing to the importance of Jesus.
St John's CofE Primary School
Jesus is spoken of as a lamb because this symbolises his innocence. The banner resting on his shoulder and held in its right foreleg represents the cross on which he died and the victory which he has won when he rose from the dead.
The school logo is a colourful representation of the school's Christian roots and values.
